  • Established Civil Construction Company based in Maryborough, QLD.
  • We have a strong current and forward workload.
  • Diverse range of works and clients urban, rural, semi-remote.

Job Summary:

The successful applicant will be able to demonstrate knowledge and experience of the fabrication, installation and maintenance of a wide variety of equipment, including, but not limited to the ability to carry out routine and emergency field maintenance and repairs, be responsible for the general fabrication of structural steel components and undertake the installation of new and fabricated components and equipment.

Essential Technical Duties:

  • Minimum Certificate III in Boilermaking or demonstrated capability through past employment experience and/or relevant qualifications.
  • Ability to read and evaluate drawings and blueprints to determine specific job requirements (location, position and dimensions) for fabrication and perform basic calculations.
  • Ability to carry out general Boilermaking duties including the use of: welding (MIG, TIG, Stick), cutting (friction, Oxy & Acetylene and profile cutting), grinding, filling, shaping, fabricating, assembly and repairing metal products and structures.
  • Ability to cut, mould, twist, shape, punch and hammer metal to assemble parts and enable fitting edges together, join metal sections and structures using welding, bolting or riveting methods.
  • Select the appropriate materials, methods, equipment and tools necessary to complete the job.
  • Use a range of machinery, hand tools, welding equipment and machines with good manual dexterity.
  • Identify faults and use mechanical aptitude to determine corrective outcomes.
  • Perform routine maintenance on tools and equipment.
  • Responsible for performing assigned duties in a safe and timely manner.
  • Ability to liaise with stakeholders and customers in a professional manner.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work autonomously.
  • Adhere to and promote JACCs high Safety and Environmental standards.
  • Ability to work effectively during times of unplanned events.
  • Promote teamwork, impart skills, share knowledge and participate in training and meetings.

To be considered for this position you will need:

  • a current QLD drivers licence.
  • a current construction white card.
  • to be physically fit and maintain that level of fitness and be able to perform manual work (as physical work and manual handling will be involved); and excellent communication skills.
  • to be reliable, punctual and keen to work in varying environments and present on time for work each day and be prepared to works weekends and outside of normal hours as and when required.
  • to understand safety requirements and applicable safety policies.
  • to work well in both team or unsupervised environments.
  • Possession of a fully functional Smartphone (Android or Apple), data allowance will be provided.
    • Please note all JACC offices, plant and most sites are non-smoking areas.
    • The successful applicant will be required to undertake and pass a pre-employment medical (includes drug and alcohol).

To complete the 3-month probation period, the successful applicant will establish themselves as a valuable team member with effective leadership skills.  They will demonstrate competence in all of the aspects listed above and will adopt and extend on JACCs culture of Safety, Environmental responsibility and Quality work.

Terms:

  • Competitive remuneration based on suitability for position and negotiable terms around individual requirements and skillset.  The position would initially be based on casual tenure with a view to a permanent position pending performance.
  • Multiple renumeration options circa $57 - $70k base annum + superannuation.
