About the role

The successful candidate will assist Fremantle Ports Project Services team to develop and deliver effective asset investment type project outcomes in the areas of cost control, scheduling, and contract administration. This role assists in managing the systems and processes required to control and direct projects toward excellent safety, time, cost and quality results for our company and the state.

The Works Program Planner (Project scheduler) will provide Program and Project management support encompassing high level analysis, reporting and general governance tasks, which will ensure Program and Project risk is defined and mitigated during asset development and delivery across the operational and capital programs.

The Works Program Planner will maintain the integrity of the schedules, resource balance and other project elements and tools as appropriate. You will serve as a primary focal point for all front-door interactions associated with Operational and Capital Project planning.

The role will be an initial offer of 3-year contract with the possibility of an extension to a permanent basis.

About you

To be successful, you will hold a Tertiary qualification and/or experience in relevant discipline.

Other essential criteria:

  • Extensive project planning, scenario development and scheduling from your analytical experience gained within a similar role within Construction/Infrastructure/Resources or IT/Telecommunication industries.
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent Project Controls experience, ideally within construction or engineering (Desirable).
  • An ability to interact with a wide variety of stakeholders both internally and externally.
  • Excellent report writing and communication skills with high attention to detail and strong numeracy skills.
  • Analytical thinking and an ability to utilise structured thinking and evaluation to present well-structured arguments.

 Technical, Professional and Specialist Skills:

  • Ability to collect, integrate and report key project data from various sources in an efficient manner. Provide required monitoring/reporting consistent with monitoring and achieving contractor deliverables within the agreed timeframes.
  • Provide accurate and timely information on program and project schedules to Project Managers for project meetings and for project reporting to management.
  • Demonstrated high-level written communication skills, with the ability to prepare complex Procurement and technical documents.
  • Strong understanding of Project Accounting, with a sound knowledge of Earned Value and WIP for forecasting, accrual, claims.
  • Demonstrated research, analytical and conceptual skills with advanced Data management, interrogation and presentation skills.
  • Demonstrated high-level interpersonal, presentation and negotiation skills, with proven ability to liaise and consult effectively at all levels.
  • Working knowledge and extensive experience in use of scheduling and planning systems such as Primavera P6, MS Project, Planview PPM PRO
  • Working knowledge of MS Office Products including MS Excel i.e. Vlookups, Pivot Tables, Pivot Charts, Array Formulas, PowerPoint,MS Word, Macros and VBA programming.
  • Experience in BI Tools creating meaningful complicated analytical views, Tableau, and Excel Power Pivots.
  • Tertiary qualifications or equivalent Project Controls experience, ideally within construction or engineering (Desirable).
  • Strong understanding of Project Accounting, with a sound knowledge of Earned Value and WIP.
