Based in Kununurra, the successful candidate will ensure Quintis' HSE framework is implemented in all areas of operations and encourage HSE awareness in our Sandalwood plantations.
Reporting to the HSE Team Lead based in Darwin, the successful applicant will act as the HSE link between the field operations and Head Office.
Duties include, but are not limited to:
To assist the Management team in complying with current Health and Safety legislation and / or regulations with the objective of ensuring that all reasonable and proper measures are taken to protect the safety and health of staff and visitors.
To implement and monitor Quintis Health and Safety Policies and Procedures.
To identify and source safety training for personnel in areas including first aid, CPR, accident prevention and investigation.
To assist with budget proposal for the operation of all H&S activities, initiatives and specific training programmes.
To act as liaison with all related government bodies and regulating agencies.
To coordinate the companys emergency procedures and act as the Companys emergency on site coordinator.
Inspect workplaces and workplace equipment, such as Irrigation, Ag chemicals, fertilisers, fuels, tractors and implements, to ensure they meet storage & safety regulations (and to identify hazards and risks).
Ensure personal protective equipment (such as hearing protection, chemical / dust respirators, safety glasses, footwear and safety helmets), is being used in workplaces according to regulations.
Assist with the rehabilitation of workers after accidents or injuries.
Improve Quintis Forestry's position on the safety maturity curve.
Work actively within Forestry to create a strong HSE culture across all workers including employees and contractors.
Essential knowledge and skills:
Cert IV Work Health & Safety
Current First Aid
Current C class drivers license
Microsoft Office Proficiency
Cert IV Environment
Experience or background in forestry/horticulture/agriculture
