We are seeking a Heavy Haulage Manager who would like to come and join our team! Reporting to the General Manager, you will use your strong communication and interpersonal skills to manage the team and associated fleet to ensure the ongoing success of the business.

Responsibilities

  • Lead by example and be a passionate and enthusiastic member of our team;
  • Lead the company's commitment to meeting safety and compliance standards including Chain of Responsibility (CoR) and NHVR requirements;
  • Maintain effective cost control, safety and timeliness to exceed customer expectations;
  • Manage the efficient allocation of jobs to drivers, and ensuring efficient communication of these plans to stakeholders;
  • Prepare safe and efficient transport routes utilising your knowledge of load restraints, curfews, permits, driver capabilities, etc.;
  • Drive efficiencies and asset utilisation of fleet in accordance with HS&E and CoR requirements;
  • Achieve operational and commercial goals to meet strategic obligations;
  • Identify and implement opportunities for improvement and efficiencies of day-to-day operations;
  • Establish and manage strong relationships with internal and external stakeholders;
  • Create and manage business development opportunities to grow the business;
  • Develop, mentor and motivate the team to drive positive outcomes; and
  • Play an active role in the recruitment of drivers.

Desired qualities we need from you:

  • 4+ years experience as a Manager in the transport industry;
  • Qualification in Transport/logistics;
  • Qualification or working knowledge in HS&E, NHVHS, CoR;
  • Knowledge of oversize and indivisible mass permits, statutory and regulatory requirements;
  • Knowledge of required road networks and locations (driving experience an advantage);
  • Results driven, positive work ethic, collaborative and people-oriented mindset;
  • Strong leadership, mentoring and management skills;
  • Exceptional relationship building and networking skills;
  • The ability to adapt to diverse environments and manage multiple priorities;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills;
  • High attention to detail; and
  • Proficiency in Microsoft suite of packages.
