The company is a leading edge manufacturer of electronics instrumentation products that are sold to companies worldwide. Due to recent expansion overseas and domestic and international growth an opportunity exists for an experienced Purchasing Officer to join the procurement team.
You will be responsible for purchasing and outsourcing of components and assemblies to support manufacturing schedules and to meet budgeted COGs. Experience in sourcing low level components such as IC, Resistor, Inductor, Capacitor, Diode, Connector etc is mandatory.
The successful candidate will come from an electronics manufacturing environment and have proven experience working in a similar role. You will have good communication and negotiation skills and be highly motivated to plan and deliver according to schedule and to control procurement costs and minimise waste.
Minimum 5 years purchasing experience in an electronics manufacturing environment
Source new parts, new suppliers and sub-contractors; negotiate for the best package
Experience dealing with international part suppliers and service providers
Responsible for the preparation and processing of purchase orders
Co-ordinate and track deliveries of items between suppliers to meet project schedules
Maintain complete updated purchasing records
Relationships with chip manufacturers and suppliers
Understand international regulatory requirements, & multinational import/export restrictions and processes
Part number control and Purchase Specification control
Shipping and import/export/logistics experience; Harmonised Tariff codes.
Experience with an ERP/MRP system
Relevant educational background (eg. Cert IV in Purchasing)
The role requires high level of self-motivation, initiative and organisation and a natural ability to persuade and influence others.
