Ensham Resources (a joint venture majority owned by Idemitsu Australia Resources) is the operator of a coal project located 40km north east of Emerald in the Bowen Basin, in Central Queensland.  Ensham comprises an open cut mine and an  underground bord and pillar operation. It mines high energy low ash thermal coal and total annual production is approximately 5 million tonnes per year.

The mine operates with a small professional team at site managing and supporting the operation. Reporting to the Underground Mechanical Superintendent (MEM) you will be responsible for: 

  • Coordination and management of the replacement and overhaul of underground face and outbye equipment
  • Control and management of contractual commitments and project delivery timeframes
  • Supporting the production department by providing reliable equipment and machinery information
  • Compliance with engineering and mechanical statutory obligations and specifications
  • Applying the SHMS procedures and engineering standards
  • Contributing to strategies to minimise the equipment costs and maximise equipment availability
  • Maintenance and development of strong vendor/supplier relations


To be considered a suitable candidate for this position you will have the following experience and background:

  • Trade Certificate or Tertiary qualification in relevant field or equivalent industry and/or organisational experience
  • Minimum 4yrs experience with underground coal mining equipment maintenance supervision and coordination
  • Experience with development face & outbye equipment is a must
  • Strong leadership and decision-making skills
  • A commitment to safe work practices
  • Knowledge of current mechanical engineering technologies
  • High level of computer literacy


The roster for this position is a 5 on 2 off (Monday to Friday) Emerald based arrangement.
