Distinctive Options has seen a significant growth in its service provision over the previous two years, with rapid expansion projected into the future. This has raised the need for an experienced and skilled Assistant Accountant that will be responsible for Accounting for all financial transactions, preparing budgets, completing accounting duties and production of financial reports for the business.

This position is responsible for processing, recording, payments and producing financial reports. The transactions include daily bank reconciliation and posting information to accounting software from such source documents as invoices to participants, cash receipts, and supplier invoices. The position reconciles accounts on a daily basis to ensure accuracy of reporting and that any discrepancies are monitored and followed up promptly.
Has undertaken suitable qualification in accounting or working towards achieving this qualification
Experience in practical accounting and bookkeeping work in an office environment
Experience in operating Computerised Accounting Software preferably Reckon or Business Central
Knowledge of and practical application of the Australian Accounting Standards and relevant tax legislations including GST and FBT
The ability to maintain a high level of professionalism and confidentiality
Excellent communication skills, written and verbal
Ability to work independently, show initiative and work productively with a team environment
Ability to communicate with a diverse range of people
Attention to detail
Communicate effectively current policy to make people aware of current systems and practices in Finance to avoid conflict/confusion
A willingness to learn new skills and participate in special projects
Proficiency in Office 365 and Windows based operating systems
An understanding of the disability sector and DOs role in supporting and employing people with disability
A current drivers licence

The successful applicant will be required to successfully undergo a number of probity checks, including:
National Police Check (and an International Police Check for any person who has lived overseas for 12 months or longer during the past 10 years)
Disability Worker Exclusion Scheme Check against the Victorian Disability Worker Exclusion List
The successful applicant will be required to successfully complete the NDIS Worker Orientation Module.
The successful applicant will be subject to the following:
Internal Code of Conduct and all policies and procedures
NDIS Quality and Safeguarding Framework, including NDIS Code of Conduct
Disability Worker Regulation Scheme, including Victorian Code of Conduct
The successful applicant will be able to access Salary Sacrifice arrangements through AccessPay. This includes the option to pay certain expenses (mortgage, rent and everyday living expenses) before income tax is calculated, resulting in a reduced tax payment.
