Electrical Estimator

FIP Electrical Pty Ltd is a well-established Electrical/Engineering Contracting Company with offices in Sydney, Brisbane, Melbourne and Hobart. Catering to a wide range of electrical services on the eastern seaboard of Australia and are continually growing and expanding.

We are seeking an Electrical Estimator with a solid background in the Commercial, Service and Maintenance Electrical Industry for our Sydney Service department office at 38 Tennyson Road, Mortlake. You will have the responsibility for reviewing and analysing electrical tenders, specifications, drawings and relevant information for the accurate cost estimate and sale submissions of tenders. Projects are varied from commercial, industrial including retail and hospitals, which are just a few of the areas we cover with price ranging from $1,000.00 to $20 million. The candidate must thrive in a positive and challenging working environment, must be self-motivated and able to operate autonomously. The candidate is to contribute to progressive improvement of the company and will become part of the senior management team & integral to our business.

Brief summary of tasks required but not limited to the following:

  • Ensure timely preparation of estimates
  • Ensure accurate costing through cross checking
  • Submissions of high quality tender offers.
  • Implement Company Quality System Tendering procedures
  • Timely completion of the relevant sections of the tender submission documents
  • Attend internal estimate review meetings with the appropriate management
  • Assist in the preparation of statistics or follow up of tenders as required
  • Dealing with clients in a professional manner looking for repeat business
  • Preparing electrical estimates and site visits as required
  • Implementing and identifying cost saving initiatives in a proactive manner
  • Assisting project managers and other team members when needed

The right person must have;

  • Exposure to estimating software such as ConEst,
  • Knowledge of construction process including value engineering.
  • Must have electrical trade qualifications or electrical engineering background
  • Experience working within the electrical industry and seeking to progress their career
  • Self motivated and able to work autonomously
  • Willingness to embrace processes
  • Ability to work well under pressure
  • Exercise attention to detail and be able to review formal documentation
  • Strong communication skills - written and verbal
  • IT literate particularly with Microsoft Word, Outlook and Excel.
  • Excellent client relationship skills
  • Minimum of 2 years relevant Australian experience having worked in a similar role.
