Glencore’s McArthur River Mine (MRM) is a world-class zinc-lead mine with a long future. You’ll find our mine in the Gulf of Carpentaria 900 km southeast of Darwin and 64 km from Borroloola. We produce and process zinc, lead and silver from our open cut mine. It is then stored and transported to our Bing Bong loading facility and is shipped to our customers all over the world. Our customers use our essential commodities in everyday products for mobility, infrastructure and communications.
At MRM, we’re looking for a Lead Advisor - Rehabilitation to join our team to plan and co-ordinate conservation and land management activities. The progressive revegetation of operational areas and the McArthur River Diversion Channel is the key focus of the position, including on-ground revegetation and management of consultants undertaking ecological monitoring to measure the success of revegetation. The position is an exciting opportunity to make a significant contribution to long term, sustainable mine closure at MRM.
In this role you will be responsible for:
Leading the Rehabilitation team, including permanent employees, trainees and seasonal labour hire.
Forecasts and reporting for rehabilitation expenditure and operational budgets.
Planning and facilitating annual revegetation activities on the McArthur River Diversion Channel, and collaboration with the Mining department to successfully co-ordinate progressive rehabilitation of operational areas.
Planning and facilitation of activities under the Cattle Management Plan.
Management of the onsite nursery to ensure production meets revegetation requirements.
Collaboration with the Community and Corporate Affairs department to provide meaningful engagement opportunities for local community employees.
Management of the Ecological Monitoring Contract, and other specialist consultants.

You’re a good fit with this role if you have:
A Bachelor of Environmental Science (or similar).
Previous mining or heavy industry experience.
Knowledge of land rehabilitation, geomorphology and ecology.
Contract management experience.
GIS – MapInfo or QGIS experience.
This role is a fly in fly out role from Darwin, on an 8-days on 6-days off or 4-days on 3-days off roster and is a fantastic opportunity for work-life balance.
