Assistant Accountant - Senior Bookkeeper

The business is an expanding professional services firm (Financial Planning), headquartered in Upper Mt Gravatt and with multiple offices in Queensland and other states. They have been long established as entrepreneurial and innovative in their field and continue to provide high quality services to their client base.

They have a dynamic, energetic and ethical culture and are looking to attract a similar personality to the finance team. They are currently looking for a hands-on accounting professional who has significant experience in a professional services environment to join the finance team in a part time capacity.

This role will initially be for approximately 2-3 days per week and would suit a very experienced bookkeeper or assistant accountant.

You will be working closely with the Management Accountant and your duties/responsibilities will include:

  • Accounts payable and accounts receivable functions
  • Preparation lodgement of BAS for all entities
  • Management of mortgage referral payments
  • Balance Sheet and Profit & Loss reconciliations and analysis
  • Ensuring the financial position of business units are recorded, and reported accurately in Xero for all four entities that comprise MiQ Group
  • Payroll function
  • Attending to queries from the non-financial areas of the organisation

Qualifications & Attributes

  • At least 5 years fulltime business services experience
  • Senior bookkeeper or a CA/CPA Australia qualified accountant
  • Ability to multi-task, manage and meet deadlines
  • Have a can-do attitude.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Proficient with Xero and Excel

The ideal candidate will have extremely solid accounting knowledge and be able to prepare financials to trial balance, enjoy being a team player within the finance area, and connecting with all stakeholders. They will be organised, systems driven and enjoy a busy and positive work culture.  A high proficiency in Xero is an essential requirement for this role.
