We are currently looking for an experienced and passionate Payroll & Accounts Officer to join our team. This will be as a temporary contract for 8 months while our current employee goes on Parental Leave. We are looking for someone who could fill this role from January/February to September 2020.

This role is for someone who can hit the ground running and further assist our Finance Manager.

With many different priorities to focus on, you will need to manage your schedule so that everything runs smoothly. It is essential that you enjoy working with technology and that you are always looking for ways to make processes more efficient.


About the role

  • Autonomously processing of payroll for 120 members of staff (within a monthly pay cycle) including the calculation and subsequent lodgement of Payroll Tax, payments regarding WorkCover and Superannuation.
  • Reconciliations for petty cash, receipts, allowances and credit cards.
  • Reconciliation of the General Ledger.
  • Processing of staff reimbursements and the disbursements of client outlays.
  • Month-end activities such as the processing of transactions, journal entries and providing assistance towards the Finance Manager.
  • Acting as the main point-of-contact for suppliers, including the ongoing management of accounts and the set-up of new suppliers.



  • Proven payroll experience, ideally with Xero.
  • Prior years of experience within an Accounts Department and prior experience with MYOB would be ideal.
  • A good understanding of payroll legislation and processes, including Single Touch Payroll, Payroll Tax, Superannuation and PAYG.
  • Willingness to learn new systems and software programs.
  • Organisational skills of a high level.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work with confidential information.
  • Ability to perform accurately under time pressure.
  • High attention to detail.
