About the role
We are seeking a commercially-focussed project management professional to join TasNetworks Major Project Development team.
The Connection Project Manager role is to conceptualise, initiate and successfully develop new connection activities from initial customer contact through to commencement of construction, including concept design, tendering, contractor selection, negotiation of contracts with connecting generators and delivery of early works, with ongoing commercial management throughout the delivery phase of the project. You will play a key role in setting these projects up for success, enabling us to successfully deliver transmission lines, substations and other electrical infrastructure to facilitate the connection of renewable energy projects to the network. You will act as a crucial change agent with our business for the strategic transformation of our unregulated connection services.
This role will see you ensure effective management of major customer-initiated projects including financial performance, monitoring of improved key performance indicators and risk assessment and management.
The Connection Project Manager will be joining TasNetworks during an exciting time for the Tasmanian energy industry, which is seeing increasing interest from energy developers, attracted by the quality of renewable resources available in Tasmania.
About the Business
At TasNetworks, we own, operate and maintain the electricity transmission and distribution network in Tasmania. We deliver a safe, cost-effective and reliable electricity supply to more than 285,000 residential, commercial and industrial customers.
As well as operating the regulated network, TasNetworks provides competitive transmission services, including designing, building, owning and operating the assets that connect large-scale renewable generators to the grid. TasNetworks unregulated infrastructure portfolio includes high voltage transmission lines and other transmission connection assets.
As an experienced project manager you will bring to the role forward thinking and improvement focus with demonstrated experience delivering infrastructure, business development or customer related projects. Exposure to the utilities sector, infrastructure projects and a working understanding of the connections process under the National Electricity Rules would be advantageous but are not essential. You will have a willingness to further learn and stay updated on industry trends as well as negotiating and contract management experience.
