Project / Workshop Manager


AUSINO Projects operates from an extensive and modern complex in Gladstone, Queensland, offering in-house design, engineering, drafting, planning, fabrication, machining and painting. AUSINO Projects is currently taking applications for a Project/Workshop Manager to join their team for an immediate start.



Reporting to the Director, this varied role will see the successful candidate responsible for the following duties:

  • Ensure sufficient task analysis are completed to carry work out safely
  • Ensure all employees work to company safe working procedures and systems
  • Request and assist in requisitions of equipment, materials and consumables as required within limits of authority
  • Monitor the use of materials and care of tools, equipment and plant to minimise waste and damage
  • Prepare short term schedules at an agreed frequency ie weekly
  • Ensure that labour is constantly employed efficiently and effectively
  • Ensure that work is performed as per Drawings, Specifications, Procedures, Quality Documentation and current schedule of works
  • Ensure all work is carried out to quality and specification requirements
  • Ensure that all quality documentation including quality control is completed at the time of work and that details are recorded directly.  Assist in quality audits and their preparation
  • Manage the receipt and dispatch of goods and material in a timely manner in accordance with the current schedule
  • Ensure that employees are managed to meet payroll requirements
  • Assist management with estimating as and when required
  • Interface with management as to ensure accurate cost control of works at hand
  • Manage technical related matters and liaise with engineering to achieve satisfactory outcome that meets both clients and the company requirements
  • HR labour employment/recruitment for workshop staff
  • Assist in the management of a harmonious environment, team building, and training of apprentices and other employees as required
  • Ensure required maintenance & pre-operational checks are carried out on all equipment/plant
  • Preparation of and supporting Projects within the Mining and Gas Industries
  • Work as a Project Manager both on-site and in the Gladstone office as required
  • Develop & manage work schedules & plans
  • Manage vendor packages and work scopes, including procurement and expediting
  • Oversee mechanical and fabrication workshop
  • Review Project documents and raise technical queries
  • Assist supervisors with people, plant and equipment
  • Ensuring the Project Team works safely and to standard
  • Liaise with operations and project stakeholders to identify, fault find, and trouble shoot issues and develop solutions
  • Management of project engineering packages including ownership of project scope, budget, quality and schedule
  • Organise sub-contractors and suppliers, check completed items to ensure these requirements are met
  • Development of procedures and undertake appropriate auditing



The successful applicant will possess the following attributes:

  • Estimating experience
  • Manufacturing experience within mining, oil and gas or heavy industry
  • Must be able to quote and estimate fabrication, machining and site activities
  • Must be able to implement work plans and raise job schedules for fabrication, machining and site activities
  • Must understand QA/QC, development & implementation
  • Capable of creating MDR and QA documents
  • Must be able to plan, schedule and oversee fabrication, machining and activities
  • Must be committed to continuous improvement across all aspects of the business
  • Preferably a degree/associate diploma in Mechanical Engineering
