Operator - Mineral Processing


An outstanding career opportunity is available for an Operator Mineral Processing at the Companys Mt Carbine operations. Mt Carbine Retreatment Management Pty Ltd, is an emerging tungsten producer in the resource sector that acts as the agent for the unincorporated joint venture between Mt Carbine Retreatment Pty Ltd and CRONIMET Australia Pty Ltd. With the recent refurbishment and commissioning of the Retreatment Plant nearing completion we are seeking Operators suitable skilled to contribute to our future development and success.


The intent of the Operator Mineral Processing is to provide advice and support for the Company by developing and maintaining a close working relationship with all stakeholders.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to:

  • Promoting a positive safety and environmental compliance culture;
  • Operate fixed or mobile equipment including start-ups and shutdowns as directed;
  • Carry out defined inspections on a regular basis throughout the shift;
  • Carry out minor mechanical repairs to the plant within your ability and training;
  • Carry out plant section stops and starts according to current instructions and training;
  • Monitor plant and take appropriate action to rectify problems;
  • Carry out sampling, preparation and testing of process streams;
  • Prevent contamination of process streams;
  • Operate plant and equipment in a manner to minimise down time and parts consumption;
  • Carry out fault finding of the plant and report findings to the Team Leader;
  • Carry out operation checks and tasks as indicated in training manuals;
  • Raise plant suggestions where you see a need or benefit to the plant;
  • Assist in the provision of services such as plant cleaning and pipeline maintenance; and
  • Participate in training and implement the knowledge and skills gained.


To succeed in this role, it is vital for the successful applicant to have experience in similar roles in heavy industry/mining, as well as possess good numerical and literacy skills, a mechanical aptitude and vehicle drivers licence. Forklift and Skid Steer (Bobcat), Front End Loader Competencies or Licences would be preferred but not essential. Previous experience in plant operations or a process system is also preferred.


Mt Carbine Retreatment is located only 500m from the Mt Carbine township on the Mulligan highway central to Mossman, Port Douglas, Mareeba, Julatten and Mt Molloy. Mt Carbine has a rich history of Tungsten production and is strategically and conveniently located only 134 kms from the coastal city port of Cairns, Queensland. For those with families there is a choice of private and public schools, as well as universities and technical education facilities in the area.
