Corporate Tax Manager

This challenging tax advisory role provides a mix of managing the day-to-day tax affairs of a range of business clients as well as the opportunity to provide specialist tax structuring and tax consulting advice in relation to IPOs, script transactions, demergers, acquisition structuring, funding, transfer pricing, tax consolidation planning and international tax aspects.

You will be responsible for 'whole of client' management supporting the firm's leadership and including research and preparation of advice on complex tax matters. Manage large tax due diligence projects across a range of tax matters and jurisdictions as well as providing sign off, leadership and guidance to a high performing team.

Our Melbourne team continues to expand providing expert income tax advice and consulting services to leading corporate clients in a variety of sectors.  An opportunity has arisen for a high performing Tax Manager, who can work autonomously, that is looking for that next role to advance their career within a growing international consulting business and ultimately to being a partner in the business.

The right person may be currently working at a Big 4, second tier Chartered Accounting, or law firm in the corporate, expatriate, transactions or international tax areas.  Alternatively you may also be working at the Australian Taxation Office. The role would ideally suit someone looking to transition from a large firm, where they might not have room to grow or expand their career due to business case reasons or are over the big firm hierarchy and lack of autonomy. This role will give you exposure to a wide variety of experiences and clients from fast growing recent start-ups to large overseas headquartered organisations.

It is essential you are degree qualified in Accounting or Law and possess a post graduate qualification or Masters of Tax/Law.

The key areas of the role and responsibilities include:

  • Manage and grow our Corporate International tax team
  • Preparation and review of income tax compliance across the practice
  • Day to day client relationships across a variety of corporate tax compliance and advisory projects
  • Analysis and advice in respect of complex domestic and international tax issues
  • Transactional and M&A work when required by clients, including restructures and preparation for acquisition and sale
  • Preparation of technical and research memorandums, ATO ruling applications and RAP papers.
  • Maintaining quality control on assignments and projects
  • Advice preparation and research in relation to cross border tax and transfer pricing issues
  • Advice preparation and research in relation to indirect tax issues including GST and stamp duties.
  • Provide sign off, leadership and guidance to other members of the team through Professional supervision.
