Senior Process Engineer/Scientist

Steinert Australia, whose parent company is based in Cologne, Germany, has been a significant player in their industry sector for around 120 years. The company has established growing export markets and is a market leader in the supply of separation technology used in the mining resource and waste & recycling industries. The Australian office retains responsibility for the development of both the Australian and Asian markets and is seen as providers of value-add initiatives to their clients operations.

Key to the role will be to understand the potential metallurgical and financial benefits that our customers can gain from implementing our sensor-based sorting systems as part of their process in a mining operation.

In order to ensure optimal outcomes for our customers, this role will be a hands-on role, which will require you to see a project through from the test work phase, to the implementation and metallurgical commissioning of new equipment. Maintaining strong relationships with high level Metallurgists and Geologists will contribute to your success. In addition to this, using your mechanical, software and hardware experience, you will be required to help drive the development of the technology from a mining perspective.

Your exceptional problem-solving abilities, broad process knowledge, together with your capacity to communicate strongly (both verbally and in writing), will be required to assist you when writing papers and training material to further develop process knowledge within the company and the wider industry. Attention to detail, promptness and commitment to growing with the business are prerequisites for the role.

Apart from the obvious link with external customers, you will be required to maintain key relationships internally with the Management, Engineering and Sales Teams.

Travel to site will be required, sometimes at short notice. Due to the nature of the work, there will be an occasional requirement to work outside of normal hours and on weekends.

The successful candidate will ideally have a chemical or metallurgical background with focus in a mining environment and at least 10 years work experience. Other advantages would be experience with analytical software packages such as Matlab.

If you wish to be a part of a growing and progressive company this could be your ticket to success. Ongoing training will be provided in both Australia and Germany.

Salary will be negotiated dependent on experience and in-line with market expectations.
