About Dogs Victoria Dogs Victoria (Victorian Canine Association) is the peak body representing owners and breeders of purebred dogs in Victoria and has a history dating back to 1877. With over 10,000 members and more than 280 individual clubs representing a single breed, a group of breeds or all breeds are affiliated with Dogs Victoria. Together with our members we deliver over 200 events across Victoria offering many member services to support the industry.
Our core purpose is to promote and protect purebred dogs, however we offer inclusive activities for crossbred dogs to join in activities such as agility and obedience.
About the Opportunity
The positions primary responsibility is ensuring organisational effectiveness through both strategic and hands on management of Dogs Victoria financial and administration functions. The Finance & Administration Manager is responsible for the smooth running of the day-to-day Finance, Audit & IT, Business Continuity, Risk, Quality, Financial Compliance, Facilities Management.
The role is to support the Chief Executive, Leadership Team and other stakeholders (both internal and external) to create the best outcomes for Dogs Victoria members and the organisation.
This position must be able to operate at a strategic level and provide high level advice to the Chief Executive and Management, project managing business case development and submissions. This role also leads the administration function responsible for database and business systems.
As Finance & Administration Manager you will manage a small team and be responsible for the management of financial operations including, however not limited to:
General Finance and Audit management
Financial reporting to the Board, Audit Finance and Risk Committee, and Executive team.
Financial reporting and provision of financial information for the wider organisation.
Management of insurance, risk management and compliance reporting.
Supporting strategic planning.
Providing financial leadership and advice across the organisation.
Management of Contracts, Licences and Agreements including contribution and coordination of grants and tender submissions.
Management of Facilities including however not limited to grounds staff, capital works, management of tenants and associated projects.
Skills and experience
Qualified Accountant, CPA or ACA
3-5 years demonstrated experience in a similar role.
Proficiency in Xero (desired) / MS Office / Outlook
Strong interpersonal communication skills
Strong knowledge of Australian Accounting Standards
Clear communicator written and verbal.
Proactive with a high levels of customer service and 'can do' attitude
Ability to think clearly and reorganise priorities under pressure
Passion for the community and making the extra effort to achieve the desired outcomes
Working knowledge of profit centre reporting and accountability including budgeting and forecasting
This role is located at the Victorian State Dog Centre at KCC Park- 655 Westernport Hwy, (between Thompsons Rd and Hall Rd), Skye.
This role is offered on a part time basis (0.8FTE) on an initial 12 month contract to be reviewed with the intent of permanent ongoing for the successful candidate.
