Projects Engineer

Project Engineers at Optimised Maintenance provide the core project management function of identifying, assessing, improving and reviewing asset performance. Aligning the business objective with the asset performance minimum requirement, the Project Engineer can assess the capability of the asset and the effectiveness of the controls in managing the risks to performance.

Optimised Maintenance has been engaged by our client to provide project managements support for a number of complex and diverse projects. 

Key criteria:

Suitable candidates must have:

  • 5+ years of project engineering experience (degree or trade qualified) in a similar role
  • Experience in mining, manufacturing, or chemicals 
  • Financial modelling
  • Capital projects in large organisations 
  • PFS and FS development
  • Financial modelling
  • Development of Scope of Works (SoW) for issue to clients (quotation, estimates)
  • Use of project management software
  • Proficient in MS Office (SharePoint is the repository) 

Highly desirable, but not essential:

  • Projects coordination, execution or supervisory works 
  • Cost controlling
  • Projects administration
  • Projects reporting

Responsibilities:

  • Structuring of Key Performance Metrics for assets from business level requirements
  • Identifying assessment procedures for evaluating the Key Performance Metrics
  • Reporting writing, in a structured, sequential flow standard for engineering or scientific presentation
  • Business case development including risk reduction, improvement opportunity, problem identification, financial evaluation and any other requirement of a business case.
  • Management of change. Must include risk assessment, work management/ work flow, transparent documentation and an auditable review and approval process.
  • Risk Assessment as per Australian Standard for Risk Assessment, including the identification of hazards, the likelihood and consequence of the hazard event, any applied mitigations and subsequent risk assessment of the mitigated control. Risk assessment must contain a work flow process, documentation, approvals, suitable cross section of subject matter experts and risk accountable persons.
  • Data analytics including evaluation of data, interpretation of results, data cleansing, confidence assessment, and provide training and improvement in data collation. The Reliability Engineer is expected to source their own data as a means of qualifying the source and the quality.

  • Structured Project Management support.
  • Front End Loading document population in support of project requirements. 
  • Budgeting 
  • Reporting
  • Project execution planning, including resources, scheduling etc.
  • Effective project management 
  • Risk considerations for improvement projects
  • Management of Change and Risk Assessment documentation approved through structured workflow.

The assignment is due to commence ASAP for a 6-month duration with the possibility of an extension at the end of the term. Working with clients and the Optimised Maintenance Pty Ltd team is essential to the success of this role.
