The St Vincent de Paul Society is a leading provider of community support services and has been assisting people experiencing disadvantage in NSW for more than 130 years. The role is part of the Commercial Enterprises team that is in the Commercial Enterprise, Fundraising and Communications directorate. The team is responsible for state-wide recycling and sustainability initiatives; Container Deposit Scheme (CDS); and new commercial enterprises.
The Truck Driver/Storeperson is accountable for security, safety, maintenance, cleanliness and operation of vehicles and warehouse equipment and for the safety of all volunteers who use such vehicles and equipment. Responsibilities include:
driving vehicles in a safe, lawful manner
picking up donations of goods and furniture
delivering goods and furniture
ensuring all Society clothing bins are emptied on a regular basis
loading and unloading vehicles in a safe manner
ensuring all donated money received is properly recorded and receipt issued to donor
This role will report to the Warehouse, Transport and Logistic Manager.
To be successful in this role, you will need:
Safe driving skills
Good communication skills
Physical ability to perform duties required of this position
LR Drivers Licence
Good geographical knowledge of the Wollongong areas
Thorough knowledge of all road rules and regulations
Thorough knowledge of Manual Handling procedures, Work Health and Safety legislation and procedures
Ability to perform all duties in a manner consistent with the philosophies, aims and objectives of the Society
Ability to treat people we serve with sensitivity and awareness of class and cultural differences at all times
Ability to work in a cooperative and empathetic manner when dealing with homeless people, other agencies, Society members, staff, volunteers and the general public
Maintain and respect confidentiality in relation to Society, Centres and Volunteers
