John Valves Pty Ltd is a well-known and reputable Australian valve supplier and manufacturer. Their products include an extensive range of gate, globe, check, butterfly, level control, air release and parallel slide valves. The team at John Valves service a wide range of industries from water and waste water to mining, food and beverage and process industries.

We are looking for an experienced Production Assistant to join our Ballarat team to support the Manufacturing Manager in the hands-on day to day management and operation of our manufacturing facility. To succeed in this role, youll be keen to learn all there is to know about our products and our manufacturing operations and develop your supervisory and management skills.

A manufacturing or production background will be highly regarded.

Your key responsibilities will include working closely with the Manufacturing Manager to:

  • Prepare the production schedule based on orders and stock inventory levels.
  • Provide supervision and leadership to the manufacturing team.
  • Maintain production records.
  • Engage with suppliers to purchase raw materials, parts, components and products and undertake price negotiations.
  • Ensure that finished products meet quality requirements.
  • Manage the OH&S requirements of the machine shop.

Key requirements for this role are:

  • Technical and/or production qualifications and previous experience in a similar manufacturing environment.
  • Ability to develop and implement procedures, processes and systems to support the ongoing improvement and development of manufacturing operations.
  • Strong communication skills including the ability to lead, engage and motivate people.
  • A sound understanding of production scheduling techniques to ensure production targets and deadlines are achieved.
  • High level of OH&S knowledge and regulations.
  • Ability to problem solve and think on your feet to identify alternative courses of action to meet manufacturing objectives.
  • Well-developed time management and organizational skills.

Youll have the opportunity to work closely with senior team members to develop your skills and expertise and work as part of a team.

Hours of work are Monday to Friday with some overtime available.
