Overview of USC Moreton Bay
The USC Moreton Bay development will see establishment of a new campus at the Petrie Mill site. Due to open in Semester 1, 2020 with an expected enrolment of up to 1500 student in the first year, the campus is expected to grow to 10,000 students over the first ten years, becoming similar in size and scope to Sippy Downs in the medium term.
The Foundation building, designed by Hassell Studios and under construction by Hansen Yuncken, will be over 15,000 square metres in floor area featuring a variety of general and specialist teaching spaces, library, student commons, and staff workspace, and is designed to operate in convention centre mode outside teaching semesters. The building, and its surrounds, will employ smart technologies to enhance the student experience while reducing the Universitys environmental impact.
The campus will be known as USC Moreton Bay and will service a catchment of sufficient size for USC to grow into a major Australian comprehensive teaching and research university, thereby contributing to the Universitys vision and strategic goals.
Overview of Asset Management Services
The mission of Asset Management Services (AMS) is to manage a physical environment which is consistent with the Universitys Campus Master Plan and Strategic Plan, and which reflects the Universitys commitment to education and community service. AMS plans, develops and maintains the Universitys physical assets and provides access to high quality facilities for students, staff and the community across multiple campuses and study nodes.
As a part of AMS, the Campus operations team is responsible for all aspects of maintenance and compliance of buildings and grounds, procurement and management of specialist contractors, and campus services including parking, fleet, integrated transport, waste management, and sustainability. The team also delivers on projects as required.
Overview of the Role
Under the limited direction of the Building Services Manager, this position contributes to the management and delivery of planned and reactive maintenance, conduct of minor works, procurement of minor contracts, and the management and compliance of external contractors to ensure adherence to relevant HSW policies, legislation and standards. The role is varied and undertakes general administrative duties as well as tasks and activities to support AMS at USC Moreton Bay, which activities can include forklift operation and event coordination.
This position provides high quality service, support and advice (relating to AMS functions) to all University employees, students and visitors via telephone, email, online information systems and face to face to communicate information and deal with inquiries and maintenance requests. The role liaises with, and if required, provides an escalation route and ongoing feedback on the resolution of incidents, requests and maintenance. The role also works with and supports the Building Operations General Hand.
The successful candidate will hold a degree and relevant experience in building services, maintenance and compliance, or construction contract management; or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training and/or expertise. Possession of current Queensland Driver (Class C) and Forklift licenses (or willing and able to obtain a Forklift license) along with an awareness of appropriate manual handing and lifting techniques and a broad appreciation of Workplace Health and Safety legislation and standards.
As the role liaises with a wide variety of staff, students and community, strong interpersonal and communication skills, flexibility and initiative, both independently and as a member of a team, are necessary to effectively perform in this position. Sound computer literacy within a number of software packages i.e. Microsoft Office Suite; databases; spreadsheets and the ability to understand and operate BMS is also required.
A strong commitment to client service and the ability to embrace and foster a positive work environment in our new USC Moreton Bay campus is required. Sound organisational skills, the ability to prioritise competing tasks and schedule work to meet deadlines are essential in this role.
