There is now an exciting opportunity for a Senior Payroll Officer to join RMEs People team on a 12-month fixed-term basis, with the possibility of extension.

The Senior Payroll Officer is responsible for facilitating the timely and accurate payment of remuneration to RME Australia employees whilst ensuring regulatory compliance, confidentiality and adherence to RME Policies and Procedures. The Senior Payroll Officer will act as a senior, experienced knowledge base for all enquiries relating to payroll systems, policy and processes.

Duties of the Senior Payroll Officer will include, but are not limited to:

  • Timely and accurate processing of fortnightly payroll and ad hoc payments
  • Completion of End of Month (EOM) and End of Year (EOY) payroll processing and reporting, including processing of:
    • Payroll tax
    • Workers compensation
    • Superannuation
    • Deductions
  • Frequent liaison with outsourced provider and software management of payroll system, ADP RealTime and PayForce
  • Conduct regular and accurate payroll, general ledger and bank reconciliations in coordination with Finance team
  • Creation and update of employee information, including allowances, deductions and entitlements
  • Ensure compliance with relevant Awards, employment contracts, industrial instruments and other applicable legislation
  • Management of all payroll queries entered into the Human Resources (HR) / Payroll HelpDesk
  • Provision of general advice and recommendations with regard to payroll processes

Skills, Qualifications and Experience


  1. At least 5 years payroll processing experience in a multi-Award environment within a medium- to large-scale company
  2. Advanced computer literacy including significant experience in the use of cloud-based payroll technology, as well as Microsoft Office suite and financial systems
  3. High-level knowledge of relevant legislation and guidelines including National Employment Standards, Award interpretation, superannuation, taxation, payroll tax, workers compensation etc.
  4. High-level written and spoken communication skills, with a customer-centric approach
  5. Demonstrated ability to maintain a high level of confidentiality whilst handling sensitive information
  6. Ability to maintain a high degree of accuracy and attention to detail whilst adhering to strict deadlines
  7. Ability to work with a high level of autonomy and take initiative


  1. Diploma or equivalent qualification(s) in Payroll, Finance, Human Resources or other relevant area(s)
  2. Experience working in an outsourced payroll environment
  3. Experience in the use of the Enterprise Resource Planning (ERP) system Microsoft Dynamics AX


  • Possession of a current QLD C Class Open Drivers Licence (required)
