Our role is to inspire, influence, and lead positive tourism outcomes through partnerships across Gippsland. We are a not-for-profit public company limited by guarantee established in 2008 by Tourism Victoria, Parks Victoria and the six councils of the Gippsland Local Government Network (Bass Coast, Baw Baw, South Gippsland, Latrobe City, Wellington, and East Gippsland Shire Councils). About the role
The primary objective of this new position is to be part of a small team to build and manage an outstanding annual events program for the Latrobe Valley that helps drive increased visitation and tourism outcomes, the profile and exposure of the Latrobe Valley and improve the social, cultural and economic position of the region.

Reporting to the Tourism and Events Manager, the Tourism, Marketing, and Event Officer will support the delivery of an Events Strategy for the Latrobe Valley. Our ideal candidate will be able to provide advice, proactive collaboration and advocacy.
You will have experience in managing budgets, standards, and time-frames; be able to provide specialist advice, support the development of policy, working as part of a small team but also liaising with a broad range of stakeholders. We need a problem solver with great judgement and initiative; a great communicator with excellent interpersonal skills.
Preferably, you will have tertiary qualifications in a relevant discipline such as tourism, events, project management, or marketing. At least 3 years experience in a similar role, with high level skills in social medial tools, knowledge of the role of Local Government in relation to the promotion of tourism and events, experience in the development and facilitation of networks (business and community), and experience in public speaking. You will need great office and administration skills including database management, and experience managing the production of marketing materials and preparing written reports.
