Reporting to the Managing Director and working with your direct reports, the National Relationship Manager, Reservations Manager and Product Manager and alongside the Marketing Manager and the Finance Manager your role is to oversee day-to-day operations, lead the team and drive the vision and strategy of the company whilst increasing profitability. You will deliver excellent sales results and improved profit margins for the company ensuring revenue targets are achieved within expenditure budgets.

The role requires a thorough understanding of the travel industry, including sales and reservations/customer service, product and operations. Working alongside the Marketing Manager and Accounts Manager and reporting to the Managing Director you have will foster teamwork to get the most of our team as you work towards a common goal.

You will have the ability to work strategically on the business and operationally in the business making commercial decisions to drive the growth of the profitability of the company. To be successful in this role, you will be an excellent collaborator, negotiator a thoughtful leader and a confident decision-maker, maximising the use of resources, helping develop our people, while ensuring profits are on the rise.

The role:

  • Lead and implement the company commercial sales strategy ensuring profitability targets are met and drive the companys vision, mission, purpose and values.
  • Lead the product team to ensure margins are exceptional, the product is the very best in the market; supplier negotiations, product development.  
  • Work with Marketing, Sales, Product to develop and execute business strategy.
  • Work with Product Manager on Crisis and Risk Management for all DMCs, Operators and Supplier. As a member of the Senior Management team, be willing to be heavily involved and potentially lead crisis management situations.
  • Monitoring and reporting of company performance ensuring sales and profitability targets are met and within budget
  • Work with Management team and consult on strategy, competitors, retail partners and future trends
  • Working with National Relationship Manager on partnership management including maintain an effective long-term marketing and sales strategy
  • Ensure effective HR management and development; recruitment, training, performance management and development

The successful candidate will possess the following:

  • Proven success as a General Manager or similar executive role
  • Self-starter with the ability to collaborate fiercely in a fast-changing business environment, excellent problem-solving skills and the ability to think outside the box
  • An understanding of DMC and Tour Operator operations, commercial awareness with strong negotiation skills and the ability to confidently make data-driven decisions.
  • Financial skills, budget management, reporting, strategic planning and analysis
  • Knowledge of business process and functions (finance, HR, procurement, operations etc) with a strong focus on customer experience and experience in project management experience
  • Ability to lead and motivate a team across different departments and different geographical locations
  • The right to live and work in Australia
  • And passion for travel!
