Council for International Students of Western Australia (CISWA)

About CISWA:

The Council for International Students is a small, non-government organisation that works with universities, colleges and schools in WA to enhance the experiences of international students through advocacy and professional development programs for the staff that work with them. CISWA has been operating continuously since 1963.

Current activities include:  

  • developing and running professional development programs on a wide variety of topics in international education and training
  • Advocacy on key issues with state and commonwealth stakeholders
  • Working with partners on a small range of activities for students

CISWA's work is carried out by one part-time staff member supported by a group of committed volunteers from government, educational institutions and the community.

About the job:

In this job you will:

  • Manage the day-to-day affairs of the office, including answering emails and phone calls
  • Provide services to the Executive Committee of CISWA and to its Working Parties
  • Arrange CISWAs Annual Conference and its Professional Development Seminars, including publicity, logistics and registrations
  • Oversee and coordinate a small range of student activities
  • Maintain and update CISWAs website to ensure currency
  • Undertake other duties as required.

 

About you:

To be successful in the role you will have:

  • 3 years experience in a similar role
  • A proactive & assertive approach
  • Attention to detail
  • Ability to multi task & prioritise
  • Experience in working independently
  • Advanced MS Office skills
  • Ability to meet deadlines
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Familiarity with basic accounting packages

 

Desirable

  • Prior experience working in the international education sector
  • Experience with Xero accounting software

 

Other requirements

  • Police clearance

 

About you and us:

You will report to the President of CISWA, but will work independently.

You can work from home although an office may be available.

Working hours are flexible (apart from attending executive meetings to take notes). Meetings are roughly monthly.

The position would suit someone who wants to work within school hours.
