About the role:

The Media Relations Advisor is responsible for developing media plans and pitches to build awareness of the organisation, deepen audience engagement and drive onsite and online visitation to the Library.

Building strong relationships with key media and influencers, the Media Relations Advisor will execute integrated media plans, coordinate complex media and influencer events and will use their exceptional writing skills to develop key material including media releases, stakeholder briefing notes, media story opportunities and, at times, speeches. The Media Relations Specialist will confidently and seamlessly inform and engage multiple key stakeholders and will provide media advice to senior managers and staff.

 
In collaboration with the Media Manager, the Media Relations Advisor will utilise their strong media contacts and proven experience to devise and implement media campaigns across print, radio, television, and online media to assist the Library in meeting its marketing and communications objectives and will think creatively to contribute digital and social content to amplify campaigns.

The Media Relations Advisor is accountable for the following measurable outcomes:

  • Brand exposure, profile and advocacy through high impact media coverage that extends reach and supports key projects and key events.
  • Content amplification through earned and owned channels, building brand awareness and audience engagement, while also promoting the Library's programs and collection.
  • Audience engagement, reach and growth through establishing and maintaining positive relationships with relevant media and opinion leaders, identifying and leveraging opportunities to advocate for the Library in the media and broadening reach through achieving regular and strategic media coverage.
  • Compelling, high-quality, well-researched content, celebrating collections and offerings, stories and experiences.
