About the business

The Allwest Group consists of 3 main operating business with activities ranging from the hire of small construction / handyman equipment to large construction equipment to the civil & mining industries and also drainage works crews servicing the Water Corporation.  The group has been in business since 1983 and has grown to currently have a regular staff of over 35.

As a result of the above growth and changes in some staff, we now have a vacancy in the light vehicle / small machinery area of the business.  We would like to grow this side of the business even further and therefore need to ensure our assets are kept in a safe, working and well-maintained manor that our clients are used to receiving.

Your duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to: -

  • Conduct repairs & maintenance to our light vehicle fleet
  • Conduct repairs & maintenance to our small engine machinery fleet
  • Be available for mobile work as required
  • Assist with the on-hire & off-hire process
  • Maintain equipment service and other records
  • Assist with maintaining a clean working environment along with the control of workshop supplies / parts as required
  • Ensure all vehicles are locked and isolated while in yard
  • Be a valued contributor to workplace Health & Safety by wearing the appropriate PPE, making sure all actions are conducted in a safe manor by yourself & colleagues.

Skills and experience

To be successful in this role, you will ideally have the following attributes: -

  • Australian recognised Trade Certificate (Motor Mechanic Light Vehicle)
  • 3 + years post trade experience in a similar role
  • Sound knowledge of mainstream 4wd vehicles commonly utilised within the Civil Construction and Mining industries
  • Electrical, Hydraulic and Motor Vehicle Air Conditioning knowledge / certification is highly advantageous
  • A genuine passion for the motor vehicle and machinery industries
  • Strong written & verbal communication skills
  • Proven team player with the ability to take instruction and achieve a result in a timely manor
  • Be a self-starter, can work autonomously as required, organised and able to prioritise work utilising own initiative
  • Able to deal with short notice for jobs of an urgent nature
