Stakeholder Engagement Officer

We have an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated Stakeholder Engagement Officer to join our team in Townsville.  You will be working across the civil construction division in particular delivering a range of communication and stakeholder engagement activities with the local community and government bodies. You will also play a vital role in supporting the business development function.

The impact you'll have:

  • Driving and implementing the community relations and stakeholder engagement activities as per the project requirements
  • Working directly with the Managing Director to engage with key stakeholders and maintain positive relationships with local government, businesses and communities
  • Working to mitigate or limit community impacts and liaise directly with those impacted
  • Developing and implementing communication plans to address any potential concerns
  • Working to keep the project team on track and assist with drafting reports, minutes and agendas as required
  • Keeping a close eye on potential media and community concerns and escalate for resolution when necessary
  • Identifying positive opportunities to promote the project
  • Assisting with conflict resolution, crisis and risk management on an as-needed basis
  • Developing partnerships and alliances for the business to deliver on their social investment charter.

The talents you'll bring:

  • Dedicated stakeholder and community engagement experience (major infrastructure project experience will be highly regarded)
  • Existing relationships and knowledge of the business community and key stakeholders in Townsville (highly regarded)
  • Ability to independently and empathetically develop working relationships with a variety of stakeholders, especially in challenging and time pressured situations
  • Ability to identify community issues and risks and provide input into potential mitigation strategies
  • A strong administration skillset to support the project team and assist with meeting key milestones (Project Management support will be required from time to time)
  • Ability to thrive in a high-pressure environment and adapt to changing situations
  • You'll possess exceptional verbal communication, public presentation and interpersonal skills aiding your ability to develop credibility and trust with stakeholders.

The role is 8am 5pm Monday to Friday. However it is anticipated that some weekend work or other outside of hours work may be required at times.
