Brisbane Open House (BOH) is a free community event held each October, providing residents and visitors with the rare opportunity to discover the hidden wealth of architecture, engineering and history in buildings and places around Brisbane city.
BOH a not for profit organisation. It is based in Brisbane, is governed by a board and run by a small, energetic team.
The Executive Director will be responsible for all aspects of the delivery and project management of BOH.
The ideal candidate will possess previous experience in event management and business development within the arts and/or NFP sector or similar.
The Executive Director will have excellent event management experience and a passion for the built environment industry.
They must have demonstrated experience and ability leading major events/projects including managing communications and event strategies, idea creation, sponsorship and budgeting, planning, execution and evaluation.
The Executive Director will need to demonstrate:
High level experience in event management and a clear understanding of project management concepts and activities.
Strong experience in sponsorship generation and previous experience in business development within the arts and/or NFP sector or similar.
Strong experience successfully working with all levels of government and diverse range of stakeholders including the design/architecture/built environment sectors.
Strong experience developing budgets, meeting financial targets and managing staff/volunteers.
Financial literacy and experience with Administration.
Exceptional project management skills, with a high level of written and verbal communication skills.
Excellent time management and organisational skills.
Key responsibilities are:
Lead the strategic management of the BOH program, events program and buildings list.
Formulate, manage, contribute to and interpret the production requirements which include all staffing, scheduling, operations and any other logistical requirements in delivering the BOH program.
Lead and manage the BOH team and provide support and advice to the BOH Board.
Set clear project objectives and goals, facilitate collaboration and foster a positive working environment through planning, clear communication and comprehensive evaluation.
Build, maintain and renew partnerships with sponsors, the corporate sector, government and others. Research and outreach to new sponsors, renewal of existing partners contracts, sponsor benefits activation and reporting.
Liaise, negotiate and form strong working relationships with a diverse range of stakeholders to deliver all events and activities across BOH.
Seek out new sponsorship opportunities and networks; implement and refine new fundraising opportunities, research corporate and private prospects, develop sponsorship proposals and grant applications.
Develop a comprehensive, long term partnership strategy which reviews the value of and improves current partnerships, as well as setting out a plan to recruit and grow new partnerships, to secure BOHs funding into the future.
Negotiate, manage and monitor the BOH budget to ensure the program is delivered within budget.
