Manager - Des's Buses

Key leadership role in the transportation industry, Hindmarsh location, Highly respected and established business.Des's Minibus is an iconic South Australian business that moves people around Adelaide. With a fleet of 70 buses, Des's Minibus are committed to delivering the highest level of customer service.
 
The Role:
 
Reporting to the Adelaide General Manager, you will administer, manage and direct all Des’s Minibus and associated operations.
 
Your primary responsibilities include:

  • Manage the Des’s Minibus Call Centre
  • Facilitate and maintain positive links with key organisations and businesses
  • Growth, turnover and profitability
  • Prepare and manage tenders and contracts to maintain and grow business
  • Pursue opportunities to market and grow Des’s Minibus as outlined in the Marketing Plan
  • Collaborate with other managers in the Des’s Group of Companies in order to formulate and implement policies, procedures, goals, and objectives
  • Ensure the vehicle fleet is maintained according to company standards
  • Ensure the sound management of all human and material resources, including the promotion of a positive organisational culture, by leading staff to realise opportunities, exercise sound judgement and achieve positive results for the organisation
  • Development and implementation of driver recruitment and retention programs

 Your key competencies:

  • Strong and proven management skills at a senior level, preferably with relevant experience in a transport or logistics organisation
  • Highly effective written and oral communication skills
  • Competent use of office technology and systems
  • Sound and flexible negotiation and inter-personal skills
  • Demonstrated ability to foster a positive and inclusive organisational culture and team environment
  • An ability to develop productive relationships with key corporate, industry and Government organisations, particularly licensing and compliance bodies
  • The ability to raise Des’s profile and sustainable market position, in collaboration with the other companies in the Des’s Group
  • Proven ability to work with and within legislation, including industrial relations, WHS, EEO and Risk Management principles
  • An HR drivers’ licence and DPTI accreditation whilst not essential would be an advantage

Your Essential Qualifications and Experience: 

  • Appropriate qualifications combined with experience in a relevant discipline
  • Evidence of prudent financial management in a similar sized organisation
