Veterinary Referral Hospital (VRH) is Melbournes newest and largest specialist facility for pets and is seeking a new business manager to oversee the most exciting period in its history.

Comprehensively equipped with cutting edge clinical technology and a broad team of specialists, clinicians, nurses and support staff; VRH is ready to become the clinic of choice for pet owners and referring clinics alike across Victoria.
This multi-faceted role assumes responsibility for the effective operations of the hospital whilst developing and implementing plans for sustainable growth and exceptional commercial performance. Reporting to the General Manager Vet Services (Emergency and Specialty) and supported by a leadership team including a Practice Manager, Heads of Departments and People & Culture Coordinator; key responsibilities will include but are not limited to;
- HR Management and Recruitment
- Financial Management, ROI submissions
- Labour Model Planning/Implementation
- Profit and Loss Reporting
- B2B & B2C Account Management
The business manager works closely with the Heads of Department to establish the clinical direction of the hospital and aligning these goals with sound financial objectives.
As the business manager you are responsible for expertly blending financial, patient and employee objectives seamlessly to maintain and develop a successful hospital.
You are well-experienced in business development, using data and best practice in order to prepare financial justifications and implement detailed business plans to achieve positive commercial growth.
You will have experience growing the commercial aspects of a business whilst continuing to lead and support an intrinsically motivated workforce.
You should be confident presenting to the Executive, management peers, clients and to industry forums as appropriate. A veterinary-specific background or experience is not essential but may beneficial for this role.
A high level of computer literacy and competency is required particularly MS Word, Excel, PPT.
This should be underpinned with strong written, verbal and presenting skills - including preparation of financial reports and proposals, facilitating team meetings and B2B relationships.
Confident presenting to Executives, General Manager, Management peers and even publicly as required.
An eye for detail is required whilst having the ability to achieve progress and maintain momentum in an ever-changing landscape. Change management is the name of your game.
You should have experience in aligning and managing diverse teams to achieving shared objectives.
You actively pursue and participate professional development and have tertiary qualifications in the area of Business Administration, Leadership or Management as well as an astute business acumen.
You will need a natural communication style that conveys empathy and understanding to collaborate with a variety of stakeholders in different professional settings; representing yourself and the hospital in the best possible light.
You have experience in business development, researching and analysing data, preparing financial justifications and detailed business plans to implement positive change and incremental benefit.
