The Catholic Education Office supports the provision of Catholic schools in the Diocese of Bathurst. Supporting 33 schools, approximately 9,000 students and 1,200 staff the Catholic Education Office assists schools in the delivery of high quality Catholic Education.

The role

We are looking for an energetic, self-starter, service orientated accountant with initiative and a 'can do' attitude to help continue our journey of change and innovation. If you believe you have solid accounting knowledge and enjoy accounting and project work we urge you to apply.

Key Accountabilities

  • Assist schools to develop, maintain and manage accurate operational and capital budgets in a timely manner
  • Assist in the promotion of system priorities and accountabilities to foster financial and administrative improvements in schools
  • Assist schools to identify areas to promote productivity and efficiency
  • Assist in the reporting of key financial data to assess and sustain the financial health of individual schools and the system of schools
  • Ensure schools comply with statutory and system compliance and reporting requirements
  • Provide oversight of school bank reconciliations, balance sheet reconciliations and GST returns
  • Conduct in-school visits and internal audit function, including external audit liaison and preparation

Essential Criteria

  • Degree qualified with accounting experience.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills - both written and verbal with the ability to communicate with all levels of the organisation
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience in the use of accounting and computing software packages
  • Ability to work independently as well as within a team environment and to meet deadlines
  • Hold current drivers licence and a willingness to undertake travel as required
  • A willingness to support the values and ethos of the Catholic tradition in the workplace

A valid Working with Children Check is required for this position.
