Business Development Manager

In this exciting role, based in Australia, UL is looking to appoint a business development manager for our Building & Life Safety Technologies Division. The Building & Life Safety Technologies (BLST) Division encompasses service offerings within the built environment, fire suppression and life safety technologies.

The successful candidate will work directly with the Regional Manager, Australasia to lead development, coordination and execution of strategic and operational plans for the expansion of these UL service offerings within Australia and New Zealand. Critical to success of this role will be the ability to develop and maintain effective connections with key industry stakeholders, influencers and decision makers. These connections will build on ULs reputation of integrity, safety science and thought leadership.

Internally, this role will require a close working relationship with divisional leadership and international subject matter experts in the areas of fire safety, the built environment and product certification. The ideal candidate will have a solid knowledge and established networks within identified industry sectors in Australia, a track record of effective stakeholder engagement and demonstrated experience in developing, presenting and executing business plans and/or technical proposals.

Responsibilities

 

  • Lead the development of strategy and go-to-market plans for the Building & Life Safety Technologies (BLST) Division within Australia and New Zealand, including the expansion of new service offerings to drive profitable revenue growth.
  • Develop and maintain effective connections with key industry stakeholders, influencers and decision makers, building on ULs reputation of integrity, safety science and thought leadership. This includes but is not limited to active participation in industry associations, standardization development bodies and regulatory forums.
  • Stay current and communicates building and life safety market and competitor trends.
  • Provide regional leadership in the development of regionally relevant product test and certification solutions within the built environment, fire suppression and life safety technologies sectors.
  • Identify and work with key regional customer accounts to understand their needs on a global basis and help deliver tailored solutions to make them successful and create incremental revenue.
  • Respond in a professional and timely manner to incoming enquiries and customer service issues within the Building & Life Safety Technologies (BLST) Division in Australia, including the facilitation and follow through of service quotations.
  • Write and delivers proposals for new business opportunities internally and externally
  • Participate in regional leadership activities.
  • Performs other duties as directed

Qualifications

  • University Degree (Equivalent to Bachelors degree) in business Administration, Marketing, Engineering, or related disciplines plus a minimum of five years experience in high value account management, business development or equivalent role.
  • Solid knowledge and established networks within identified industry sectors in Australia, a track record of effective stakeholder engagement and demonstrated experience in developing, presenting and executing business plans and/or technical proposals.
