The Project Manager position is permanent full-time role within the Balarinji team. This integral position will be working as a part of a small established and dedicated team in the delivery of a variety of work, where no two days are the same. Sydney-based Balarinji is a leading Australian strategy and design agency working throughout Australia and on international projects. Established in 1983, we have been at the forefront of integrating Indigenous sensibility and design across major infrastructure, branding and communications projects for thirty-five years.
Best known for conceptualising Aboriginal art on Qantas aircraft, we also count in our client portfolio, Transport for NSW, Roads and Maritime Services, Sydney Trains, Macquarie Group, Microsoft, the Australian Paralympic Committee, Nespresso and commemoration work in Europe for Department of Veterans Affairs.
Position Qualification & Experience Requirements:
Degree qualified, preferably in Business Administration or Project Management, ideally with competency and experience in the creative industries.
5+ years Project Management experience, preferably within industries such as construction, design, public art, production/fabrication or events.
IT proficiency across MS Office on Mac Platform, primarily Excel and Word and Powerpoint. Experience in Google SmartSheets, Workflow Max and Asana would be advantageous.
Well-developed and proven project management skills, with the ability to build and influence successful partnerships and networks.
Desire to achieve and work in a fast-paced environment, with the willingness to work through challenging situations
Detail orientated with a very high level of accuracy, with the ability to work autonomously as well as cohesively as part of a small team.
Proven experience leading and managing staff.
Strong interpersonal and communication skills, both written and verbal.
A proactive and flexible attitude.
Effectively manage a variety of projects in line with budget, scope and timelines, managing multiple projects at one time.
Manage client relationships and expectations, communicate with clients to gather project requirements, briefs and provide project updates, including attendance at client/supplier meetings.
Prepare timelines, budgets and reporting ensuring projects are on budget, tasks are on schedule and variations are tracked.
Brief resources; designers, freelancers, researchers, curators etc.
Manage financial activities including reports, invoicing and budgets.
Creation, preparation, editing and formatting of new contracts, collateral, reports, project briefs, pitch documentation, project timelines, project spreadsheets and databases.
Project reporting; close out reports, project analysis and case studies for future profiling.
Schedule design tasks, workflow and priorities, attend daily studio team meetings to track and monitor projects within the studio.
Forecast associates required to fulfil projects across the studio.
Prepare project scopes and budgets in consultation with the Business Relationships Manager and Finance.
In line with the Senior Designer draft creative solutions to meet client needs.
Assist the Business Relationships Manager, to create, develop and pitch identified project proposals and tender documentation.
Liaising with stakeholders, suppliers and fabricators in regards to quotes, specifications, purchase orders and warranties.
Management, development and retention of staff.
Mentor junior members of the team (including Project Coordinators and Designers).
Oversee and support Balarinji Associates through project delivery.
Develop and implement studio processes and guidelines to maintain efficiencies, quality control and best practice approach.
Undertake interstate and international travel if and when required.
