Smithbridge Guam is the largest crane hire company in Guam, with diversification in quarrying, concrete operations, bitumen operations and construction. With a hydraulic crane fleet range of 20 tonne 275 tonne and crawler crane range of 120 tonne 600 tonne plus heavy lifting and transport equipment, Smithbridge Guam can perform any lift, anywhere, anytime. As part of the Smithbridge Group with an annual turnover of approx. AUD$100m, the group also has operations in Australia, New Zealand and New Guinea.

We are currently seeking an experienced SHEQ Manager to join he Smithbridge team based in Guam reporting into the Commercial Manager.

This position will require you to encourage and promote safety, environmental and quality awareness in the workplace whilst mentoring employees. You will have very good attention to detail, have great communication skills and the ability to think for yourself.

Duties include, but are not limited to:

  • Responsible for the revision, development and implementation of safety procedures and policies to ensure facilities and jobsites comply with all safety regulations stated in OSHA 29 CFR 1910 and 1926, MSHA 30 CFR
  • Prepare documentation relating to incidents and non-conformances
  • Assist operations with compliance support
  • Manage and maintain client portals / inductions / company safety databases
  • Maintain records in accordance to legislative requirements, workplace standards & processes
  • Maintain corporate compliance to OSHA and MSHA
  • Assist with the completion and data for reports and administrative requirements
  • Coordinate RTW plans, organise medical appointments etc
  • Complete employee inductions and manage new starter onboarding processes
  • Maintain meetings minutes
  • Assist with internal and external audit requirements
  • Manage the D&A program
  • Maintain SHEQ registers
  • Prepare Toolbox / SHEQ presentations
  • Assist with reviewing & updating systems documents
  • Maintain risk management processes

To be successful in this role you shall possess the following attributes:

  • Degree qualified in a safety discipline who would like to develop their safety career within a group with an international footprint
  • Minimum 3 years experience
  • Knowledge of MSHA 30 CFR an advantage
  • Able to obtain military base access clearance
  • Possess exceptional people skills and interested in pursuing a career in safety
  • Absolute commitment to Workplace Health and Safety must be in safety because they genuinely want to make a difference!
  • Ability to work under pressure, manage multiple tasks and prioritise effectively
  • High attention to detail
  • Excellent communication skills
  • Highly organised and can work independently, as well as part of a group
  • Strong computer literacy and proficiency in Microsoft Office
  • Maturity and ability to deal with multi-site, multi-cultural teams
  • The nature of the position requires a high degree of discretion and confidentiality
