Senior leadership opportunity for a Director Parliamentary and Government Services within the Department of Planning, Industry & Environment (DPIE) Housing and Property division. The Housing and Property Group oversees the management of state government assets, including the management of Crown land, the NSW Government’s social housing portfolio, oversight of strategic use and disposal of government-owned land and the management of the State’s most notable tourist destinations. The Group also includes the Aboriginal Housing Office, the Valuer General, and the Land and Housing Corporation.
This role leads the provision of ministerial and parliamentary liaison coordination and support, as well as the management of central correspondence services. The Director, Parliamentary and Government Services provides expert professional advice to support the achievement of Department goals and strategic priorities aligned to NSW government objectives.
As the Director, Parliamentary and Government Services, you will work collaboratively across the Group to attain a comprehensive and broad understanding of multiple and wide-ranging programs, issues and activities undertaken across Housing and Property. Specifically, you will oversee the high quality and timely ministerial and parliamentary liaison coordination and support, as well as the management of central correspondence services. You will also lead the provision of proactive, authoritative advice to Senior Executives, the Group Deputy Secretary and Ministerial Offices.
You will be a high performing government leader with a thorough understanding of, and experience with the complexity of government operations, Ministerial processes, and parliamentary and legislative processes. Demonstrated evidence working across complex subject matter and functional areas whilst managing conflicting priorities and providing quality analysis and advice in sensitive political environments will be highly desirable for this opportunity.

Between now and early 2020, the Department of Planning, Industry & Environment is relocating nearly all of its Sydney based workforce to the new Parramatta Office, Parramatta Square, as part of the newest government working hub. This role will continue to have a touchdown space in the Sydney CBD, however, it is expected that the Parramatta Office will serve as the primary location for the performance of this role.
