Tomingley Gold Mine, owned and operated by Alkane Resources Ltd, is located adjacent to the village of Tomingley approximately 50kms south of Dubbo in central NSW.
The Tomingley Gold Mine commenced as an open cut mine in January 2014 and following the closure of the open cut in January 2019 is now developing an underground operation.
The Company has an aggressive exploration programme in the Tomingley/Peak Hill area and is now expediting the development pathway of both new underground and open cut mines associated with the San Antonio and Roswell deposits located 3-5kms south of Tomingley.
The operation utilises conventional crushing, grinding and leaching technology, together with a Cyanide De-tox Plant, to produce gold bullion. The operation has one residual storage facility, a raw water dam, a process water dam and general site water runoff dams.
The appointee will be responsible for all environmental management activities with the operations. The key responsibilities will include:
providing environmental advice to management team
monitoring compliance with legislative requirements and licence conditions for the current and future operations
managing an appropriate environmental monitoring network to ensure the operation meets or exceeds environmental requirements for air, water, dust and noise
designing and implementing any required rehabilitation programmes
assisting in community awareness and liaison programmes
developing and implementing education and training programmes for site employees
the preparation and submission of statutory reports
coordination of site waste management activities
The position requires an individual with appropriate qualifications in environmental management and a strong commitment and focus to achieving high level environmental outcomes. Sound technical skills, a practical hands on approach and an ability to deal effectively with regulatory authorities are pre-requisites for this role. Previous experience in the resources and quarrying industry and knowledge of Dam Surveillance requirements would be very well regarded.
