Consolidating engineering, economics and science capabilities to form WA School of Mines: Minerals, Energy and Chemical Engineering, the School attracts strong industry partnerships and investment in high-tech facilities, operating from campuses in Perth and the historic mining town of Kalgoorlie located in the Goldfields region of Western Australia.

Agricola is Curtin’s accommodation for students studying at our Kalgoorlie Campus. The provision of a safe, supportive, and community environment is an essential function of Agricola.  The accommodation provides high quality accommodation and recreational facilities. Housing up to 236 students, Agricola is gated and located a few minutes’ walk to the Kalgoorlie Campus and Kalgoorlie’s central precinct. Facilities within the grounds there’s a gym, a tennis court, a squash court, barbecue areas, study rooms and a laundries.

Your new role

This is an exciting opportunity for an efficient and customer focused Administrative Assistant with outstanding communication skills to join the team at Agricola. You will provide administrative support in the residence office, and a quality reception service to residents and other customers.

Responsibilities will include:

  • Providing excellent customer service in responding to enquiries and providing information on residence procedures.
  • Providing assistance in procuring and preparing for accommodation opportunities, including short term stays, group bookings and community conference groups.
  • Providing well-being support and onward referral as an initial point of contact for students experiencing difficulties.
  • Maintaining relevant databases, templates and documentation.
  • Processing administrative documentation including orders and payments.
  • Facilitating the procurement of consumables.  

You will bring to the role

  • Completion of a Year 12 with some relevant work related experience in a clerical, secretarial, reception or administrative role; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training.
  • Extensive experience in providing general administrative support, and the ability to apply skills to a varied range of different tasks.
  • Strong computer literacy with skills in the use of a variety of applications, including word processing, spreadsheet and database packages.
  • Strong organisational and prioritisation skills.
  • Outstanding verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently, and with others in a team environment.
