Senior Financial Accountant - Contract to Permanent

CBD Location, Global Corporate, Industry Market Leader.Purpose
 
As part of the Financial Control function, the Senior Financial Accountant – will help ensure the integrity of financial information and deliver high quality financial reporting for use by management, the Board of Directors, regulators and the Corporate Centre in London.
 
Accountabilities/Responsibilities

  • General Ledger – Ensure the integrity of balances recorded in the general ledger of entities within the division. Complete the month end process for entities within the division, including recording of general journals;
  • Projects and commercial initiatives – Help ensure that any acquisition, integration or start-up activity can be completed whilst maintaining integrity of financial information;
  • Reporting to Corporate Centre – Reporting to the division results to Group for IFRS and Solvency II reporting;
  • Board and management reporting – Produce monthly commentary on balance sheet, cash flows and accounting matters in papers for the Board of Directors, Board Audit Committee, and division management;
  • Statutory reporting – Prepare inputs for statutory financial reports for entities within the division, including liaison with external auditors;
  • Forecasting – Forecast balance sheet, cash flows, investment income and interest expense for the division as part of the annual Three-Year Plan process;
  • Liquidity and capital management – Monitor and report on cash flows of the division, and account for investment and financing transactions;
  • Intercompany relationships – External intercompany counterparty relationship management for the division.

 
Academic/ professional qualifications

  • CA or CPA qualification

 
Ideal experience & delivered performance

  • At least 6 years’ experience in a financial accounting position in a large corporate group and/or in an audit or advisory role at a professional services firm;
  • Strong understanding of accounting principles and Australian reporting frameworks;
  • Demonstrated strong leadership, management and written skills;             
  • Track record of meeting stringent reporting deadlines;
  • Excellent communication skills (both written and verbal);           
  • People leadership skills;
  • Strong analytical and problem solving skills;
  • High attention to detail & accuracy and ability to meet deadlines;
  • Excellent time management skills and a positive attitude to work.
