Accounts & Administration Assistant

We are seeking a proactive and organised individual to support and assist with all facets of our accounts, including accounts receivable, payable and payroll through MYOB for our unique Member-based Veteran Association which is a Registered Charity under the ACNC and a Not-for-Profit Organisation.

This part time position will support and assist our small team in all facets of financial administration including membership, purchases, donations and GST management and undertake reconciliation of accounts, credit and debit cards etc.

Reporting to the Administration Manager, you will follow up on inquiries relating to all accounts, reconcile bank and debtor statements and process daily banking and effectively and efficiently solve account queries for both members, internal and external stakeholders on a timely basis.

A strong working knowledge and capabilities in MYOB Accounting Software with relevant certifications and/or three years experience.  Experience and a working knowledge of Member Databases and Applications would also be desirable.

Processing and generation of annual subscriptions and new member joining fees also form part of this important role within our association.

The position is a part time role consisting of 20 hours per week, which can be worked over three or four days to be negotiated with the successful candidate.

The successful candidate will:

  • Have a strong working knowledge and capabilities in MYOB with a relevant certification or at least 3 years experience;
  • Have a strong understanding and background in accounts receivable;
  • Have excellent communication skills and be able work within a small team of staff and volunteers;
  • Be highly organised, efficient and have strong attention to detail;
  • Be able to meet deadlines and manage their time effectively;
  • Have strong computer and numeracy skills and be capable in Microsoft Office Software applications;
  • Have a high level of maturity and confidentiality and be able to work independently as well as in a team environment;
  • Have the ability to develop and maintain relations with association members having empathy and understanding within their role and dealings with Australian Defence Force Veterans; and
  • Have strong problem solving skills and abilities.
