Temporary up to 12 months, Full-Time role
Location: Lithgow Correctional Centre
Clerk Grade, Salary ($89,855), plus superannuation and annual leave loading. An Incidental allowance of $5,283 pa is applied.
Corrective Services NSW employs Senior Overseers in commercial Corrective Services Industries (CSI) providing inmates in correctional centres with vocational training to improve their employment opportunities when they are released from custody. Employment is a proven factor in reducing the risk of re-offending.
About the role:
Provide leadership and mentoring to Overseers supervise and develop inmates through managing, coaching, instructing and encouraging them, as members of a team, in order that they may improve their work skills, enhance their post-release employment prospects and contribute productively to correctional centre objectives. Plan, schedule and oversee the activities of the team to ensure productivity efficiency and other commercial objectives are achieved, and that quality and safety requirements and customer needs are met.
Certificate III in Correctional Practice (you will be provided with the training to achieve this qualification as part of your role)
Trade Qualification (Cert III minimum) in Cabinet making, Wood Machining, Carpentry or Fitting and Machining.
Current Driver Licence with ability and willingness to drive for the purposes of this role
Extensive post trade experience in Cabinet making, Wood Machining, Carpentry or Fitting and Machining
Manage and direct a small team of Overseers.
Facilitate offender employment assignments and wages.
Initiate and manage 19.1 assessments.
Motivate and manage offenders.
Schedule and manage daily rosters.
Strategically mange daily operations efficiently and effectively to meet KPI.
Have a practical and creative problem-solving ability
Have strong communication and interpersonal skills
Have the ability to work independently
Be proactive and exercise initiative within the scope of the role
Ensure that all WHS Regulations are adhered to
The successful applicant will be employed as a CSI Senior Overseer/Trade Supervisor (CSI Senior Overseer 5 in 7 days) and will be responsible for the daily operation and organisation of work related activities including the supervision of staff and the supervision and training of inmates
