About the Role
Belconnen Community Service is looking for a dedicated Payroll Officer to be part of a dynamic and progressive team.
You will be responsible for processing and maintaining the payroll function and its systems for all employees at BCS. You will also ensure that all superannuation, payroll queries, taxation requirements, and salary packaging matters are kept up to date and compliant.
To be successful in this role, you will:   

  • Ensure fortnightly pays are processed accurately and on time in accordance with relevant awards, agreements and other applicable legislation.
  • Complete all administrative and payroll processes, data entry, record keeping and document management tasks associated with payroll.
  • Prepare and complete all processes involved with final pays on termination of employment efficiently and accurately.
  • Complete End of Year Processing in accordance with all legislative requirements.
  • Ensure compliance with Single Touch Payroll reporting.
  • Provide timely general assistance, advice and documentation to employees by gathering information, making reference to awards, agreements, established practices, policy, procedures and records.
  • Reconciliation of leave entitlements.
  • Preparation of ad-hoc reports for management
  • Prepare and submit monthly Long Service Leave reimbursement claims.
  • Prepare and submit quarterly Long Service Leave data. 

What we need from you:

  • Demonstrated experience conducting end to end payroll functions.
  • Experience with Attache Payroll software will be highly regarded.
  • Knowledge of Awards and Enterprise Bargaining Agreements.
  • Excellent organisational skills, attention to detail and a strong customer service ethic with the ability to see issues through to completion.
  • Ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and work unsupervised.

BCS requirements

  • Employees are required to hold a satisfactory Working with Vulnerable People registration and have this with them at all times whilst employed by BCS.
  • Employees are also required to undertake a National Criminal History Clearance by BCS prior to commencing and every three years thereafter as a condition of employment. Employees are required to advise BCS of any convictions that may affect their eligibility to work or performing the inherent requirements of their position.
  • BCS may require the incumbent to undertake employment screening such as a medical assessment, functional assessment or psychological profile prior to an offer of employment and/or as determined by BCS during employment.
