The Archdiocese of Brisbane is one of the largest employers in Queensland and provides a supportive, high-performance team environment.  Archbishop Mark Coleridge leads the Archdiocese of Brisbane and in this mission requires the support of someone who functions as both Private Secretary and Director of the Office.

The role is based at the Episcopal Offices in the Francis Rush Centre located in the Cathedral precinct. 

The Episcopal Offices consist of the Archbishop, Auxiliary Bishops and the Vicar General supported by executive officers, executive assistants and administrative staff.  

The role of Director, Archbishop's Office plays a key role in providing high-level executive, administrative and research support and general assistance to the Archbishop in liaison with the Executive Assistant. Specifically this role is required:

  • To develop a clear understanding of the activities of the Archbishop
  • Assist with the management of affairs and where necessary coordinate The Archbishops correspondence with clergy, employees, agencies, parishes and external bodies.
  • Lead and manage the Episcopal Offices administration team, ensuring a professional and engaged culture to create an efficient and vibrant work environment 

The Archdiocese of Brisbane is seeking candidates who have:

  • Previous experience in providing executive and administration support to senior management within a large complex work environment
  • Demonstrated understanding the mission of the Catholic Church
  • Highly efficient, professional, motivated and tech savvy.

Candidates are also required to have:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications with a preference for studies at a Doctoral or Masters level in an ecclesiastical field that complements the Archbishops ministry and projects
  • Advanced skills in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Demonstrate the ability to multi-task in a busy fast-paced work environment
  • Strong written communication skills including the ability to produce high level correspondence, briefing notes and reports for senior level managers
  • Exceptional verbal communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to liaise with stakeholders at all levels of the organisation, including clergy, visiting clergy and dignitaries.  

In addition to negotiable base salary based on knowledge and experience, superannuation of 10% is contributed by the organisation and there is an option to salary sacrifice a motor vehicle.
