Australian Independent Rural Retailers is a Rural, Pet & Produce wholesaler and has eight warehouses across Australia.

We are currently recruiting for an outstanding Operations Manager to join our Perth Team, based in our warehouse complex at Welshpool. This is a multi-tasked role, encompassing all operational based functions from and at the warehouse. Reporting to the National Sales Manager (Brisbane), as Operations Manager your key responsibilities will include;  

  • Development and implementation of local and national strategies
  • Ensure proper compliance and adherence to all appropriate work health and safety regulations and Dangerous Goods regulations are followed both with regards for personal and inventory safety.
  • Ensure efficient day-to-day operations of the warehouse. Direct the operations of the warehouse team to achieve objectives.
  • Management of staff members, ensuring necessary communication and motivation, including individual annual appraisals and review of various productivity metrics.
  • Keep stock control systems up to date.
  • Regular reporting on uncommitted stock and back orders.
  • Oversee warehousing activities to ensure processes and procedures are understood and followed; oversee warehouse compliance for inventory management, cycle counting, product handling, and other services as required.

The role is to be performed with high standards of service to external and internal customers, ensuring timely and professional operation of the Perth Warehouse.

Skills and experience

  • Proven record of previous experience in a similar role (minimum 3yrs)
  • You must be a team player, proactive and dedicated to expanding the business
  • Manage and coordinate Chep Accounts as per company policy and procedures
  • Previous role involved implementing and or working with modern stock recording systems
  • Understand and follow standard operating procedures
  • Maintain stock take accuracy above (98%)
  • Hit KPI's set by the National Sales Manager
  • Conduct weekly team operational meetings  

To be successful for this position you will have demonstrated experience with transport and chain of responsibility requirements. You have proven experience in successfully managing, upskilling and developing a team to reach their full potential. Ideally you are proficient in operating a warehouse management system, confident with KPI reporting and Managing Operations within a budget. An understanding of the rural industry will be beneficial to the role.
