Accountable for assisting the management of multi-million-dollar maintenance contracts and complex maintenance projects

About the role
Help us innovate to meet the challenges of our growing cities as a Contract Officer. You play a key role planning and coordinating the delivery of works and services, verification of payment claims, site inspections, plus data analysis and reporting.
Following Sydney Water contract management policies and procedures, and ensure contracts and project delivery meet compliance, probity, audit and statutory requirements
Assign work to contractors and internal crews, coordinate activities between multiple stakeholders and monitor completion
Conduct contract and project audits and site inspections for safety, environment and quality parameters on a risk based frequency
Regularly required to assess site specifics with job details, and determine most cost effective method to complete the works, meeting customer and stakeholder requirements.
Continuous improvement mindset required to create new and better ways of doing things. Applies to individual jobs, own processes for managing the contractors, and can also apply to investigating and utilising new technologies through our contractors
Contribute to procurement activities, variations and contract extensions
Establish and maintain working relationships as well as contractor equivalents such as Project Engineers, Supervisors, and their crews.
Establish and maintain relationships with Internal clients such as Networks or Civil Delivery staff, and liaison with representatives from admin, H&S, Environment team, Procurement, Finance, and peers within the Networks Services Team
Mentor, train, and develop junior staff.
Relevant tertiary qualification in Engineering or Science, and/or 3+ years relevant contract / project management experience, and/or relevant water industry construction or maintenance experience
Ability to form strong, positive working relationships with internal and external stakeholders, with a genuine customer focus
Knowledge in contract and project management, including an understanding of compliance, probity and audit requirements and how they relate to commercial contracts
Knowledge of the types of civil maintenance and services work being delivered
Very good written and verbal communications skills, including listening and interpretation
Ability to apply time management principles to ensure timeframes are met.
