Finance Manager

EducationHQ, a family owned education publishing brand with a variety of print and online media assets, requires a full-time Finance Manager at their head office located in Brunswick West.

Job description;

This is a challenging and diverse role in need of a dynamic accounts professional who is looking for a role that is a little outside the square. Highly skilled, fiscally minded, organised and efficient you will be reporting to the managing director and be responsible the financial requirements of the company. 

Key Tasks & Responsibilities Include:

  • Management of outsourced finance and sales administration team
  • Overseeing accounts payable and receivable functions
  • Supervise company payroll function including sales commission calculations, superannuation, payroll tax & workcover lodgements
  • Finalising and lodgement of Australian IAS & GST Returns. Additionally, knowledge of NZ GST system is an advantage but not required
  • Preparation of monthly management reports, including cash flow projections and budget analysis
  • Preparation of year-end financial accounts for provision to external company accountants
  • Manage inter-company transfer reconciliations
  • Liaise with and constantly review processes to ensure best productivity and efficiencies across all departments of the company
  • Assist in HR affairs, including recruitment, preparation of employment agreements, review staff leave accruals and maintain leave requests, and various other employee matters as they arise.
  • Develop and implement procedures for a new sales and financial systems being developed
  • Supporting the managing director with adhoc tasks and requirements of the business
  • General office administration and management

Successful candidate:

To be considered for this position, you must be a natural communicator with a great attention to detail.  You will ideally be degree qualified (CPA, CA, Accounting) with prior experience in a chartered accounting firm highly desirable. Strong technical accounting skills, commercial acumen, a demonstrated ability to lead and develop a finance team and to deliver value-add improvements are key attributes required in this role. As this role is a key member of the EducationHQ team, excellent communication and interpersonal skills, and the ability to build and nurture strong relationships with peers and stakeholders is essential. Proven experience with MYOB is necessary.
