Coastal Engineer

About the role:

As the Coastal Engineer you will play a pivotal role in the delivery of coastal projects across Australia. We carry out a wide range of projects, from environmental impact assessments of coastal infrastructure development, through to breakwater design, and assisting local governments plan for climate change. Data analysis, numerical modelling, problem solving, critical thinking and presenting results to clients in a digestible manner provide for an interesting & fascinating role.


  • Support the coastal team with the following:
    • Proposal writing
    • Report writing
    • Analysis
      • Data processing and analysis
      • Numerical modelling
      • Client/community liaison
      • Literature research and review
      • Preparation of reports and correspondence
      • Design solutions to meet client needs
  • Supervise engineers working on the project including providing direction, technical assistance and positive & constructive feedback
  • Develop and manage valued client relationships


Skills & experience:

  • Bachelor of Engineering (water specialty)
  • 3 +  years experience as engineer in relevant water related field
  • Excellent interpersonal & written communication skills
  • Project management experience
  • Strong report writing ability
  • Ability to work independently
  • Advanced hydraulic modelling/coastal engineering skills (MIKE and TUFLOW experience preferred)
  • GIS and/or civil design skills (ArcGIS preferred)
