About the role

  • Responsible for revenue and profit of all fruit and vegetable stores 
  • Lead and coach Store Managers to effectively manage employees so that our customers receive the true "MarketPlace Fresh" experience
  • Drive high standards of leadership, coaching, relationship management, compliance, visual merchandising, minimising wastage and retail operations.
  • Achieve sales and operational related targets that will be used to measure success in the area as directed by the Management Team. 

  • Maintain knowledge and understanding of: Occupational Health & Safety, Food Safety and employment legislation
  • Learn and champion MarketPlace Fresh Policies and Procedures  
  • Drive WH&S and food safety
  • Stock Management: Educate Store Managers and employees on the importance of stock management, check top sellers, new stock, identify older stock and develop selling tactics  
  • Profit: Ensure expenses are managed within budget by frequent evaluation and intervention including roster management, stock optimisation, controllable expenses, protection of company assets, stock management and loss prevention actions. 
  • Visual Merchandising: Educate, lead, coach and train Store Manager and teams on effective store setup and execution by set timeframes
  • Sales Training: Deliver face to face training/workshops to frontline sales teams. Including representing the MarketPlace Fresh Brand, selling, product knowledge, customer care, visual merchandising, POS systems and compliance policies and procedures
  • Development of Action Plans/Checklist: Complete a developmental action plan for regular review during all store visits to be agreed with Store Managers, creating a culture of feedback and open communication. 
  • Customer Service: Ensure all employees deliver high standards of customer Service and MarketPlace Fresh experience and customer satisfaction through excellent service and complaints resolution 
  • Relationship Management: cultivate and maintain strong relationships with the Management Team, buyers, Store Managers/employees, HR and support office teams.  Contribute to effective team work through collaboration. 
  • People: Provide coaching and feedback to all employees about performance expectations and assist Store Managers in ensuring all issues of underperformance are addressed. Responsible for succession planning, employee engagement and development in all stores. 
  • Aid in the recruitment process and ensure all staff are correctly inducted and trained in company standards, procedures and policies

Skills and experience

  • Experience in a similar role is required
  • Experience in forecasting, budgeting, stock management and rostering is desired 
  • Experience in the fruit & vegetable industry is desired
  • Demonstrated people management experience

  • Communication:

  • Business or Retail qualifications, highly desirable
