An exciting opportunity has become available to join our Finance and Business Services Team based at our Muja Power Station (near Collie, WA) on a permanent basis. Your main priority will be to develop and maintain a comprehensive suite of financial reports to ensure financial performance is accurately reported, easily understood, and drives commercial outcomes.
About the role
Engage key stakeholders throughout the business, and more specifically for the allocated business unit, proactively support commercial decision making related to key strategic, financial and commercial opportunities and commercial practices.
Hands on delivery of comprehensive financial support to all functions (e.g. budgeting, forecasting, financial performance reporting, project support, and ad hoc financial analysis).
Lead the development of financial acumen of BU cost centre managers and contribute to the delivery of financial acumen training on a regular basis.
Identify systemic financial issues and manage initiatives to redesign and continually improve key financial standards, systems and processes to ensure alignment with Synergy’s accounting practices (e.g. DFA, etc).
Develop and maintain financial reporting processes and frameworks to ensure data integrity, consistency of presentation, and all reporting deadlines are met.
Demonstrate continuous improvement - Develop and implement initiatives to improve cost efficiency and productivity across the business, as well as to increase the accuracy and automation of financial reporting.
Bachelor’s degree in Commerce, Business or a relevant discipline
3 to 5 years demonstrated broad based experience performing complex accounting, management reporting or financial analysis functions within a commercial environment at a medium to large size organisation.
Strong communication, writing and interpersonal skills, complimented by highly developed influencing skills as well as demonstrated success in building and maintaining strong working relationships at all levels at a medium to large scale organisation.
Sound business acumen, expert level analytical skills and significant experience working with best practice financial reporting systems and standards.
Proven business / process improvement skills together with the ability to align detail orientated tasks with the "big picture" and communicates accordingly.
Ability to work proactively and autonomously to achieve reporting deadlines.
Post Graduate qualification in relevant discipline OR Accounting studies (CA / CPA etc)
Demonstrated experience of leadership, management, budgetary and work program planning, resource management, communication and quality assurance.
Experience in a complex trading environment together with demonstrated project management capability, including a record of successful implementation.
Experience using SAP, analysis for office and Business Objects.
