JOB TASKS AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Located at the Stratford Coal Mine and reporting to the Operations Manager, you will be a part of a dynamic and motivated team. The Environment & Community Superintendent is responsible for ensuring the effective management of site environmental obligations and community relations. This is a six month fixed term position.

The role will involve:

  • Maintaining and implementing site environmental management strategy and action plans that ensure the operation complies with regulatory requirements;
  • Coordination of relevant regulatory approvals required for continued operations;
  • Coordinating environmental assessments to identify, assess and reduce environmental risks onsite;
  • Auditing, analysing and reporting environmental performance to internal and external stakeholders and regulatory bodies;
  • Training staff at all levels in environmental issues and responsibilities;
  • Building and maintaining harmonious relationships with the community;
  • Liaising effectively with external stakeholders such as government bodies and industry groups; and
  • Environmental incident response and management.

SKILLS AND EXPERIENCE

  • Tertiary qualifications in Environmental Science or related discipline;
  • Minimum 10 years experience in a similar role, preferred in the mining industry;
  • Strong knowledge of NSW Environmental Legislation as it applies to Coal Mining;
  • Experience in contract and project management;
  • Experience with liaising with government regulators, officials and community;
  • Experience with media management and community relations;
  • Experience in maintaining communication across a number of departments;
  • You will have excellent verbal and written communication skills, strong organisational skills and be able to work cooperatively as part of a team in a range of diverse settings;
  • A current drivers licence is required.
